In April of 2026, we took a fantastic journey to Glenn Camp along the San Gabriel River West Fork National Scenic Bikeway! For all our years backpacking, this was our first time in heavy rain! More on that to come!

Highlights were abundant! A peaceful yet well maintained trail camp! There are dire rings, picnic tables, and a well stocked pit toilet! (Cleaner than at the trailhead!)

We stayed two nights, some friends were tentatively planning to join us, so the second day we were waiting on pins and needles to see if they would make it! (Found out later, they had gotten a flat tire that morning and felt it was meant not to be! We thought it was the rain scaring them away! 😭)

Things we learned: plan how to pack up in the rain so your stuff doesn’t get wet. As wet as we got, our gear in our backpacks that was dry when we put it in there, wasn’t too wet! Pack up in the tent and pack the tent last, and put it outside! You can manage being soaked while hiking if
